Regatta Judges’ Pavilion

Philadelphia, PA
project categories
Project Details

Designed with a parti focused on the regatta course finish line on the Schuylkill River, the new Judges’ Pavilion was meant to replace an existing stand built as a temporary structure in the 1970s. The three-level, glass-box pavilion design features a circular stair and lantern tower to vertically mark the finish line and materials derived and abstracted from those on racing shells. Line judges ascend theater style into seating that horizontally emphasizes the finish line. The pavilion includes upper-level media seating and ADA-accessible lower-level public seating. In addition to the Judges’ Pavilion, design was also provided for refurbishing the viewing stand with a new roof and seating.
