Lifespan Special Needs Clinic
One of several projects BKP has designed for the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, the new Lifespan Special Needs Clinic will offer a continuum of dental care from childhood through adulthood. Serving pediatric and adult patients with special needs, this first-of-its-kind clinic at the University at Buffalo considers the biopsychosocial factors that influence care delivery and will improve access to dental care for all patients.
BKP designed the clinic to include eight operatories and support spaces including a waiting room, prep room, consultation room, residents’ room, and restroom. All clinic spaces are fully ADA accessible. One operatory has a hydraulic wheelchair lift to enable patients to remain in their wheelchairs for procedures. It also has accommodations for a bariatric bench.
Schematic design will be completed in spring 2024 with anticipated clinic opening in 2026.
