Holmesburg Recreation Center
The structural glazed tiles in bright shades of blue and cream that clad the outside of the Holmesburg Recreation Center hint at the activity and energy within. With spaces arranged along a central circulation spine, the multi-purpose center offers meeting space, indoor fitness and recreation, after-school services, and senior daytime activities. Building materials are both durable and vandal-resistant, including medium security doors and hardware with stainless steel trim. As part of this project, BKP worked with the City of Philadelphia’s Percent for Art program to commission Lewis Ross to create Deep Water, a site-specific public artwork.
