Franklin Lakes Public Library
The existing Franklin Lakes Public Library location adjacent to other municipal buildings and a ball field limited possible one-story expansion. The design provided a second-level addition built primarily of custom trusses large enough to be occupied. New collection space – unimpeded by columns – is housed within the trusses. The traditional materials used reflect those of other local buildings. The plan enabled the library to retain its existing parking lot without interfering with the ball field.
