Evanston Public Library
Winner of an international design competition, the Evanston Public Library’s architecture was recognized for combining interior function, exterior expression, and a careful understanding of the difficulties of the urban site. The interior is organized around a generous lobby with an information desk, elevators, and an open stairway. All collection spaces allow for maximum flexibility to accommodate future changes in library function or technology. Large windows and open spaces provide sunlight and views throughout the building.
