Electrical & Systems Engineering Renovation
For the rapidly growing Electrical and Systems Engineering (ESE) Department, BKP modified an outdated warren of offices into an open and efficient space for faculty and student collaboration. Embracing a high-tech, modern aesthetic inspired by companies such as Apple and Google, the design incorporates colorful walls and extensive glass to capitalize on large existing windows. Clerestories, sidelites, and glass partitions (some with frosted gradients for privacy) bring natural light into all areas while affording views to ongoing activities. Ceiling treatments include exposed ductwork in combination with wood-look and solid metal clouds for acoustical absorption. The graduate student collaborative workspace features a dynamic perforated metal ceiling system and durable carpet tiles.
